Areas of interest
Working with adults and adolescents that have experienced significant trauma. Understanding the neurological, physical and behavioral effects of trauma using a variety of therapeutic interventions and treatments that can reduce trauma responses and symptoms of PTSD.
Working with difference understanding cultural sensitivities racial, cultural, religious, gender and sexual identities interact with one’s beliefs and behavior being aware of cross-cultural boundaries and differences in the therapeutic space. Working with societal historical conditioning, privilege, power, prejudices, racism and oppression exploring micro-aggressions supporting clients to feel heard and develop greater resilience.
If appropriate I work with a transpersonal perspective with the sense of some experience of ourselves which is numinous and beyond (but also includes) our everyday awareness supporting clients to explore and develop their own spiritual personal path. Drawing from various cultures and indigenous communities across the globe I use various tools and methods to facilitate active engagement in symbolism, creativity and imagination to support clients in reaching greater awareness and understanding.
I am the co-founder of NAOS an intercultural therapy centre that’s expertise is working with children, young people and adults that have experienced significant trauma.
I have over six years’ experience working in a variety of settings including various charities in the UK and Africa, NHS, the corporate sector as well as my own private practice.
I believe indigenous communities hold a greater wisdom and understanding of both individual and collective consciousness and healing so spend time learning from different traditions across the globe to gain a greater holistic perspective which I work to integrate into my daily life, development and practice.
